MEXICO CITY WITH LIZZIE DINGLE

NAME: Lizzie Dingle

WHAT YOU DO: Film Producer and Director

STAR SIGN: Sagittarius

LIVING : Sydney, Australia

LOCATION : Mexico City

SLEEP

We stayed in an AirBnb, in Roma Norte, a stone's throw from great cafes and restaurants. Uber’s in Mexico City are super cheap, which is convenient because it’s a massive city. I’d recommend picking an area to stay with a good vibe and then uber to the places and sites you want to visit. Don’t feel like you have to stay in the heart of everything because it’s impossible.

EAT

Taqueria “Orinoco”

Hands down the best Tacos I had in Mexico City, I’m salivating even thinking about these, best to share with a bunch of people and have a taste of everything.

Cicatriz

Oops I had a three-course breakfast and did not regret it, you’ll want to eat everything from this vegetable focus menu.

Panaderia Rosetta

The lines are long and I may have missed my walking tour but I’d argue it was worth it for some of the most delicious fresh flakey pastry goodness.  There is also an amazing restaurant owned by the same people called Rosetta. It is fancy but the ambiance and the food are truly incredible.

Convenience Stores

The Snacks! I could go on all day about how good the range of lollies, chips, and nuts are. The chilli and lime flavoured nuts were always a winner, also the cucumber lollies come in handy when you misjudge the spice levels of guacamole at street food stalls.

DO

Visit a Luis Barragan House His famous Stables were booked out while we were there so we went to another one of the houses he designed and where a family actually live and it was such a highlight, not only could I be incredibly nosey and walk through someone's personal house but it was a feast for the eyes (plus there was a beautiful dog!).

Teotihuacan ruins

It’s a long day, but so fascinating.  I dare you not to walk around thinking “They built all this without the wheel?”

Yuyu

Hopefully there is an event at Yuyu when you are in town because it’s one of the coolest clubs I’ve been to. The sound, the lights, the ambiance everything is perfect. There is even a record store upstairs and a cocktail bar where they make STRONG margs. What more could you ask for?

SHOP

The Masaryk Boulevard in Polanco

So many Mexican designers are showcased in shops along this street, there are so many amazing finds we went back twice because we couldn’t get enough.

PACK

Nothing too tight - the food is that good you don’t want to restrict yourself.
